2024 COOKING FOR A CAUSE
Cooking for a Cause was such a special evening! 🌟 The event raised over $100,000 for Friends In Deed’s programs, while showcasing the culinary talents of our aspiring chefs and highlighting the pressing issue of food insecurity in our local community. Here is a glimpse of the fun!

2024 Mayor's Interfaith Prayer Breakfast

The 51st Annual Pasadena Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast was a meaningful morning filled with inspiration and unity. Dr. Melissa Ramirez delivered a powerful keynote address about what inspired and motivated her to Leap Into the Future. Attendees left feeling reinvigorated and hopeful about ways to bring the community forward, together! Thank you to the Marshall Fundamental student orchestra for their beautiful music throughout the morning.

We sincerely appreciate the 500+ attendees and all those who worked so hard behind-the-scenes to make it all possible.

2023 Cooking for a Cause

Celebrating the success of our first ever Cooking for a Cause! Together, we raised over $100,000 for Friends In Deed. Take a glimpse into the incredible evening that unfolded.
A heartfelt thank you to The Institute of Culinary Education, Chef Herve Guillard, the 12 talented student participants: Gabriel Baldaia, Elijah Bryant, Taylor Duncan, Bingliang Li, Mark Palacios, Jacob Pa’au, Demi Nicholson, Kye Shamblin, Joshua Suh, Renz Tongson, Joseph Velasco, and Roshan Vettikattu; Chef judges Thomas Tilaka Kalb and Onil Chibas, Daniel Gray, Dana Hersey, Pasadena Now, Stewart Brawley, WeOlive, Karley Carrillo, and our host and Director of the Food Pantry Tim Nistler. 2023 Mayor's Interfaith Prayer Breakfast

The 50th Annual Pasadena Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast was a beautiful morning as hundreds of community members, Pasadena residents, local leaders, and the interfaith community came together with Mayor Victor M. Gordo for a morning of peace, prayer, and reflection under the theme: Together We Thrive, Pasadena.

Thank you to Urban Voices Project for a powerful performance that touched the hearts of everyone in attendance. 

2019 Friends In Deed 2nd Annual Golf Classic

The second annual Friends In Deed Golf Classic took place on Monday, June 24, 7 weeks after it was originally supposed to take place because of rain.  It turned out to a great day for golf. Not too hot. Beautiful weather. And lots of friends out there supporting the work we do at Friends In Deed.  And, if you are already thinking of next year’s Golf Classic, SAVE the DATE. It will take place on Monday, May 4, 2020. 

2018 Jazz On The Green

This year’s annual Jazz On The Green event was attended by more than 375 people and our most successful and enjoyable JOTG to date. A beautiful fall evening at Historic Castle Green. This year we were very happy to honor Rhonda Stone, Hercules Forwarding, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Altadena for their service to Friends In Deed and our community. The live jazz music was provided by LosAkatombros. Thank you to everyone that attended and for all of your continuous support.

2018 Friends In Deed 1st Annual Golf Classic

The 1st annual Friends In Deed Golf Classic was a HUGE success. It was a beautiful day, for golf, at Glendora Country Club. We had a lot of golfers who helped raise a lot of money to support Friends In Deed and all of our programs.

2017 Jazz On The Green

This year’s annual Jazz On The Green event was attended by more than 300 people. It was a perfect fall evening at Historic Castle Green. We were pleased to be able to honor Reverend Donna Byrns, San Marino Community Church, and Wester Rooter & Plumbing for their service to Friends In Deed and beyond. Music was provided by jazz musicians Gene Bertoncini and John Leftwich. Old friends and new friends mingled throughout the evening enjoying fantastic hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and a silent auction. Thank you to everyone that attended and for all of your continuous support.

2017 First Annual End of Summer Celebration

As August came to a close, we held our first annual “End of Summer Celebration”. It was a time for Friends In Deed supporters, volunteers, staff, and board members to come together for a BBQ, music, and talk about future FID plans, programs, and more. The Knights of Columbus, from Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, handled the BBQ duties. More than 70 people attended on a beautiful August summer evening.

2017 Circle of Friends Appreciation Dinner

On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, Connie Holguin, volunteer and supporter of The Women’s Room and Friends In Deed, opened up her home for a Circle of Friends Appreciation dinner. It was a beautiful evening to say “thank you” to our Circle of Friends members and also to introduce some new people to the work of FID. A big thank you to our hostess Connie, FID Board Member Kathy Simpson, the FID Development Committee, FID staff, and attendees for creating a lovely evening of appreciation.

2017 Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast

More than 570 people attended the 44th Annual Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast. We were pleased to once again be working with Mayor Terry Tornek to bring the community together for a morning of community, breakfast, and fellowship. Rev. Marlene Pomeroy provided the Invocation and Blessing of Food. This year’s Keynote Speaker was John E. Kobara, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, California Community Foundation.  He spoke to the attendees on the theme of “Comforting the Afflicted and Afflicting the Comfortable” (the text of the speech can be found here).  The Eliot Arts Jazz Combo and Vocal Ensemble performed “America The Beautiful” and played music throughout the Breakfast.  The Breakfast finished with a Closing Prayer of All Faiths.
